How do I get a resident's parking licence for my leased car?
You can find information about the resident's licence on your municipality's website.
To order a resident's licence online, you need MitID, your car's registration number and, in some cases, a copy of the lease contract. It is usually only possible to get the registration number of your new car when you collect it.
Municipality of Copenhagen
If you live in the payment area of the Municipality of Copenhagen, you can apply for a resident's licence for your leased car on the Municipality of Copenhagen's website.
The Municipality of Copenhagen endeavours to process applications on the same day, but it can take up to two working days from the time you submit your application until it is processed. The licence is only active and valid once you have received a confirmation email.
Frederiksberg Municipality
If you are a resident of Frederiksberg Municipality, you can order your parking permit on the Frederiksberg Municipality website. At Frederiksberg Municipality, as soon as you have received a confirmation email, you have a valid parking licence. You will automatically receive a confirmation email immediately.
Aarhus Municipality
If you live in Aarhus Municipality, you can order a resident's licence on Aarhus Municipality's website.
Free residents' licence for electric cars
If you have an electric car, it is not necessary to apply for a resident's licence, as street parking for electric cars is free from 1 January 2020 in the Municipalities of Copenhagen and Frederiksberg. However, a resident's licence is still required at parking facilities and the open spaces at municipal institutions. Read more on your municipality's website.
